Travel on the brain

December 18, 2007

Now that the new year is about to start, I like to begin thinking/planning our trips for the year.  This year was a good year for travel.  I think we took eight trips and five of those were new places.  We’ll probably scale back for the upcoming year though because I want to get back to decorating.

Of course, we have two ski trips planned which should be nice.  One place is new and the other is an old favorite.  Hubby wants to go camping which I’m not a fan of but hey, he humors some of my activities too.  There’s a new Cirque du Soleil touring show but I’m not sure if it’s coming to Atlanta or not.  Therefore, I’m considering flying somewhere to see it.  It will be in Chicago this summer, which is the location of my family reunion, but that’s hubby’s birthday weekend and I kind of wanted to throw him a birthday party.  The last trip currently on the list is a week in Acapulco with another couple that we’re friends with.  We’re waiting to hear back if they can definitely go.  If not, we’ll probably still go.  I love the beach and I’ve been wanting to practice my Spanish.  What do you guys have planned for next year?

  1. Camping is pretty cool, although I’ve only done it at the beach. I think it’s probably easier then the woods.

I’m only planning two vacation trips next year, Spain and Haiti, although I may head to San Diego next summer to see a friend.

You’ll have to let me know how Spain is. It’s on our long list of places to go.

  2. Europe in early spring for another visit with The Boy. Will probably take a quick road trip to Charleston this summer, and maybe a weekend at Tybee Island or somewhere like that. I’d also really like to hit an island.

I traveled a lot too this year, I didn’t realize how much until I flew home for Thanksgiving and realized it was my 9th flight of the year!

You may want to rethink Charleston in the summer. I was there in August once for a wedding. That had to be the most hot and humid place I’ve EVER been. It was miserable.

  3. Gecko I did not know you were from ATL. Or maybe I just forgot!

Maybe I didn’t mention it. I don’t know. I’m out in the ‘burbs so I guess I should say ATL Metro Area :-)
