It’s our anniversary!

May 27, 2008

That’s right folks, two years ago today JezChill and I tied the knot.  Time flies when you’re having fun!  Last year, we spent our anniversary in Grand Cayman.  This year, we spent the weekend…camping.  You know that’s love (on my part).  LOL.  We had fun in spite of the fact that I was a little under the weather.

We agreed to do low-key this year.  Hubby said something about going to Ray’s on the River but I’m not sure if he actually called.  Wherever we end up, we’ll be exchanging cards and not much else.  If I have time, I’ll pick up his gift on the way home from work.  It’s nothing big and it won’t be a surprise but I’m calling it an anniversary gift nonetheless.

Two years down, sixty-eight to go and it only gets better each day!!!!

Always check the weather

Hubby spent most of the weekend working on our patio project.  So Saturday afternoon, I decided to make myself useful and put down the wildflower seeds I got from Target a while back.  Talk about hard work!  We have several pine trees in the backyard so the back half of the yard is covered with pine needles.  I’m talking about inches thick.  First I had to rake all the pine needles away.  Then I had to pull all the weeds that were in the cleared area.  Then I had to break up the soil.  Then I put down the seeds, put soil over them and watered them.  Of course, all of that is easier said than done.  Not to mention the hose was all tangled up.

I was quite proud of myself and was looking forward to having my own field of wildflowers.  Fast forward to ~2 am Sunday morning…the mother of all thunderstorms woke me up.  The thunder was literally shaking the house.  Then I had to get up and close all the windows and dry all the sills because rain was blowing in.  I just know all my poor little seeds got washed away.  I guess I should have checked the weather before I decided to start planting.  emoticon

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

May 5, 2008

Well the good news is that I finally finished my online class on Friday.

The bad news is that because I’m such a procrastinator and waited until the last minute to complete the coursework/exams, I didn’t do as well as I should have.  I got an A (91%) but I know I could have done much better.  That said, I do plan to re-read the material that I just skimmed the first time around.

The bad news is that I stepped in a crack in the sidewalk on the way in to work and scraped the leather off the heel of my shoe!emoticon  I plan to take it to the shoe repair place but I’m not sure if they’ll be able to repair it because it’s pink leather.  Bleh.  In other shoe news, the shoes I ordered from DSW finally came and they are NOT a true 8.5.  Those shoes were so tight that I could barely get them on.  Of course, they don’t have them at any of the stores near me so I’ll have to mail them back.  I’m debating whether I should exchange them for a 9 or just return them altogether.

All in all, life is good though.  I keep meaning to take ‘before’ pics of the patio area.  I guess I’ll do that tonight.  The weather is nice so maybe I’ll get hubby to put some steak on the grill and we’ll have dinner on the deck.  Good times.
