Always check the weather
May 12, 2008Hubby spent most of the weekend working on our patio project. So Saturday afternoon, I decided to make myself useful and put down the wildflower seeds I got from Target a while back. Talk about hard work! We have several pine trees in the backyard so the back half of the yard is covered with pine needles. I’m talking about inches thick. First I had to rake all the pine needles away. Then I had to pull all the weeds that were in the cleared area. Then I had to break up the soil. Then I put down the seeds, put soil over them and watered them. Of course, all of that is easier said than done. Not to mention the hose was all tangled up.
I was quite proud of myself and was looking forward to having my own field of wildflowers. Fast forward to ~2 am Sunday morning…the mother of all thunderstorms woke me up. The thunder was literally shaking the house. Then I had to get up and close all the windows and dry all the sills because rain was blowing in. I just know all my poor little seeds got washed away. I guess I should have checked the weather before I decided to start planting.
