Back to the House
September 15, 2008The summer was pretty busy. Now that fall is approaching, things are starting to slow down a bit. Winter means ski season so we’ll be busy again come January. So I’m going to take advantage of the down time and get back to sprucing up the inside of the house.
Next on the agenda is the dining room. It’s currently empty due to spending money on other stuff (travel, the patio, travel) and not knowing what I want to do. I have some nice framed prints from my old house that are currently sitting in the basement storage so I definitely want to use those. One of the key colors in the prints is green so I’m thinking sage green for an accent color. I’m still undecided for the main color (which we’ll paint the walls). Perhaps a brick red or an eggplant color. I’ve decided to work backwards though.
I’m going to find a rug first then paint the walls accordingly. Then I’ll find curtains and accent pieces. I pretty much know the furniture I want. We found a nice set at least a year ago but never bothered to buy it. I just need to verify the measurements so I can plan the placement. A china cabinet is a must as our wedding china and every type glass imaginable are boxed up in the basement for lack of storage in the kitchen. I also want a buffet for serving so that people don’t have to go back and forth into the kitchen. I’m hoping to be done with the room by the end of the year so wish me luck!
